Interesting Ways in Which Computer Gaming
Software May Develop in the Future
Computer
gaming has been a hobby and a passion for people since the mid 1990's.
Originally it was looked upon as just another program that the computer could
run but no one could foresee how it would take off. Since then computer games
have evolved from simple 2D images with a few colors to complex 3D environments
with millions of colors. The gaming industry is one of the most profitable
fields to work in and also one of the most exciting.
The
interesting thing about computer gaming is that it continues to evolve faster
than the technology that it's designed to run on. This is mainly due to the
fact that game developers are artists and artists are always creating new works
of art. A concept or idea that is brought up by a development team might not be
very feasible until the next technological advancement. This constant need for
more powerful hardware is part of what drives the development of CPU's, and
GPU's.
However video
games aren't just being used for entertainment purposes. There are many games
for computers now that are educational in design and nature. These are aimed at
helping young children understand a computer better. They are also used to help
teach math, science, reading, history, and pretty much any other subject under
the sun.
Educational
uses aside computer gaming is still the hobby of many people and shows no signs
of stopping. You have the RTS games for your empire builders, the FPS genre for
the people that like to shoot things, and the RPG genre for those of us who
like long quests. There are many other genres and sub genres but they are too
numerous to list here. The types of machines that these are being played on are
as varied as the players themselves.
The one
fallback to computer gamming is that newer games require powerful hardware to
run on. Hardware costs money and each individuals computer has a different
configuration. Some have top of the line machines while others have low end
computers with integrated graphics. Still the love of gaming knows no bounds
and people continue to play.
This being
said many people are trying to invent new ways of presenting their games.
Monitor technology has always been one such field for advancement. There have
been many attempts both old and new to make a visor for computer games. However
the idea of a visor is slowly being replaced by a motion control monitor.
This roughly
translates into sensors on the monitor telling your character to turn in the
direction you turn your head. Motion control in particular is something that's
being developed for gamming but it is still in its infancy. Despite these new
control methods the old mouse and keyboard are still the main method many
gamers prefer.
As computer
gaming evolves technology and people evolve with it. No longer is it looked
upon as merely a hobby but a way to tell stories, educate children, and provide
entertainment. With all the possible new technologies that will be introduced
soon we may be seeing the birth of a new age of gaming. Just remember to play
hard and enjoy yourself.
