Computer Gaming Software & Gaming Laptops...

Hello, Everyone knows that there are almost innumerable options available when looking for computer gaming software and gaming laptops.

This page provides some ideas on the types of gaming software and gaming laptops available, which may help you decide on what to go for.

When you shop for a gaming laptop, you will be inundated by all the makes and models. They can be really expensive and the real problem arises in finding one that best suits your needs. There are all types of different gamers out there, people that like to play computer games that they have purchased, others that are downloaded from the internet, and some, that like to play those MMRP games like World of Warcraft, as well as all the other ones.

Before you go out and buy the first gaming laptop that you see, there are some things you need to consider. First is to find out which kind of system is best for you. There are several different gaming laptops to choose from, including Alienware, CyberPower, Sager, and iBuyPower, just to name a few. You want to go to a review website and compare features, pros and cons, etc., for each system, and pick the one that is best suited for your needs. Then of course there is the price range. This really depends on your budget, and what kinds of goodies you want your system to have. Remember that the cheapest isn't always the best way to go, but usually top of the line models tend to lose value rather quickly. It is best to pick something in between the two.

When picking a gaming laptop, you need to also consider these things. One is power, and the more power, the better, especially when it comes to internet gaming. You also want to have the best graphics, and sound that you possibly can. Processing speed is essential, because without it, your game, no matter what kind it is, is going to run slow and sluggishly. Then you need to have a good laptop that has an adequate screen. You have to compromise between the size of the screen and the weight of the unit here. Too large a screen and it will be heavy and a pain to lug around. Too small a screen and you will have to put your face right up next to it to be able to play.

Some other things to look for in a gaming laptop is if it can be upgraded to have a better graphics, and sound card. Expect that games and laptops are going to excel really fast, and you want to be able to expand your laptop's capabilities at least once, without having to buy a whole new system all over again. If you try to find the best one for now, and one that can be upgraded, then you gaming system should be fairly good for at least a few years. This is about how much time gaming technology tends to jump into the next phase.

There are many different places you can buy your gaming laptop, both online and from local electronics retailers. You really want to skip those mass marketing retailers, while they may have cheap deals on some products, you want to make sure of a few things that they can't provide. One of them is a warranty and guarantee. The other is technical support. Some retailers, those that specialize in nothing but electronics are going to be your best buy.

The words 'cheap' and gaming laptop really do not go in the same sentence, but if you look hard enough you might find a laptop that can play a few decent games. Naturally you will not find a laptop that is able to handle all of the state of the art games we have today, but you can at least play a few of the lower end ones. For example, if you like to play World of Warcraft or Everquest II, you might be able to find a budget laptop that can handle them.

The first place you should start is your local electronics store. The first thing you need to look into is the amount of RAM the laptop has. For gaming these days you will probably need at the very least two gigabytes of RAM. But when you are looking at a gaming laptop, you need to see whether or not the RAM can be expanded later on. For example, you might buy a laptop with a one gigabyte ram stick if you can upgrade it to three gigabytes later.

The next thing that you need to watch out for is the hard drive. Let's make no mistake here, games are big. There was a time when a thirty gigabyte hard drive might have cut the cake just fine, but these days you are going to need at least a one hundred gigabyte hard drive. You will need this hold your games, along with any music and movies you might have. Remember that many multiplayer games require that you download map packs in order for them to be fully functional. These maps have been known to take up quite a bit of room.

The screen size is something that you should also take into account. Some people can game on a tiny 10 inch monitor, but if you are not one of those people, make sure you get one that is most comfortable to you. Otherwise you might end up regretting it.

How well do you get along with the keyboard? You will be using it a lot, especially when you game. Make sure the keyboard is something that you can deal with! In addition to that, you need to see whether or not the laptop comes with an external mouse, because not many people are able to game using just the touch pad mouse.

Finally you should check to see what type of cooling it has. A gaming laptop will use a lot of resources, which in turn will heat the laptop up. The last thing you want is it melting in your lap. Make sure you examine the specifications of each laptop you are considering. If you are careful and persistent, you will find the laptop you want soon enough.

As technology advances into new territory, video games are right behind to provide the best experience possible. After surround sound was implemented, many wonder where the gaming software can go next. There are two new forms of technology making waves recently: motion controls and 3D TV. Both are just now getting the demand needed to be brought into the consumer's home. While separated, these provide an extra perk to playing a game console or PC. Put them together and gamers step into another dimension of interactive entertainment not seen before at the retail level.

Motion controls are already being used by Sony and Nintendo, but Microsoft thinks it can do better. While the first two companies are utilizing motion controllers, the other is tossing the controller out and using a motion camera instead. This device (dubbed Project Natal) tracks a person's movements and relays them to the console. This makes games easier to play and creates new ways for gaming software to be played. Microsoft hopes that Project Natal will bring in more people to video games that hadn't played before. Because of the complicated controller layouts, many older generations turn away from video games. These are the people that would feel better gaming if Project Natal was a reality. It will be by the holiday season in 2010.

3D entertainment has just started to capture a fan base, but is already being brought to consumers this year. There are currently two types: 3D with glasses or 3D with expensive glasses. All that makes the image 3D is this: they double the image, offset the two, and then the glasses pull them together. It's a fancy parlor trick, but it works.

The final image has similar depth to real life and makes the action stand out more. Combined with surround sound, 3D is great for movies and video games, but not for local TV. ESPN will be the first to go 3D, but don't expect CNN, Fox News, or MSNBC to jump on board.

If the current gaming software brings all of these together: surround sound, 3D, and motion controls, video games will be one step closer to the Neo vs. Morpheus fight in a random dojo. 3D and surround sound would help to make gamers feel like they're in the game, but motion controls would make them feel like the game is almost real. Think about it: two buddies running in place to jump off a bridge in time could put sweat on their face and adrenaline in their veins, just like in real life. Driving in 3D would make races more intense and possibly cause car sickness for spectators. As for first-person shooters, all of the technology above will turn multiplayer matches into combat missions.

The future is looking beautiful for video games and software. It will be awhile before gamers hack into The Matrix or a holo deck from Star Trek, but this is the beginning of both concepts. Once programmers and engineers can develop the missing components, either one will be easy to provide and use. Gaming software can already create realistic landscapes and characters, but putting a person in the middle of it is the tricky part. Once that can be done, video games will be redefined forever.

Computer games have been around for a very long time, but no one could have predicted back in the days of the Atari 2600 that they would actually have separate genre's. From the ashes of E.T., the gaming industry rose up and took over once more, to the surprise of many individuals. But believe it or not, we have brought you a list of the most popular genres in gaming software today.

First Person Shooter-The game that rejuvenated the industry in 1991 was Wolfenstein 3D. It was the first game where you could take matters into your own hands and go face to face with Hitler's war machine. There were hallways to roam, doors to open, and hidden treasure to loot from prisons, secret laboratories, and even the bunker where Adolf Hitler would make his final stand. Since then the first person shooter has evolved into an entirely new monster. Online tournaments and private LAN parties are commonplace now, as you will no doubt discover.

Real Time Strategy-The Dune series by Westwood entertainment gave life to the real time strategy genre, soon evolving into Command & Conquer. From there the genre simply took off and spawned thousands of more titles. From base building, to squad command, the real time strategy game has covered nearly every story possible.

Turn Based Strategy-While this is somewhat like the real time strategy genre, it actually plays like a board game. Some of the most popular TBS titles are Civilization and Shattered Union. These games are just as popular as the turn based strategy games, and sometimes even more so.

Simulation-Have you ever wanted to fly the skies of 1940's Britain? Sail the seas of the Caribbean? Pilot a submarine through enemy waters? That's what simulation is all about. These games are popular among those who want to experience something, but may not get to in real life. Flight simulators are often used by the military to train their personnel.

Third Person Shooter-Unlike the first person shooter, the TPS is shows from behind the person you are playing as. Games like Brute Force and Just Cause have used this interface. It is not quite as popular as the FPS because it tends to be much buggier.

Role Playing Game-Last but not least is the role playing game. This is a type of game where you play as a person in a specific world, and you make achievements specific to that world. These achievements will normally help to boost your status and of course make it easier for you to finish the game.

These are the major genres available in both PC and console gaming. Many people prefer different genres, and you will have to figure out which one you like as well. There are some who like all of them, so you never know where you might end up.
